Learn to design a layered image gourd using a vinyl resist technique. Cynthia will show you how to cut and design a plant motif for the cannonball gourd using your ruler, X-Acto knife and blank vinyl. You can then create your own designs at home. Students will be doing all the cutting for the vinyl resist plant design. A cannonball gourd will be supplied pre-cut, cleaned, and ready to work on.

A little of everything in this class! This class will teach students some smooth lining with your woodburners as well as using colored pencil to fill in your roosters character. Borders will be put on with an ink dye that will need to be heat set. Some skin removal and carving as well will be offered in this class.

The project may have alternate beads or reed than shown in the photo. A fully prepared gourd will be provided. No prior knowledge of weaving is required for the class. We will be using necks of gourds to make a wall hanging of Indian Spirit Dolls. Each Spirit Doll will be original as you come up with your own style. Patterns will be handed out to combine designs or create one of your own. The dolls will be approximately 7”-8” tall and 3”-4” wide.
